Ms. Lyons Babineaux is biracial and was born deaf to hearing parents. She is originally from Indiana. Her hearing loss was discovered at the young age of three. Ms. Lyons Babineaux initially attended a mainstream school before transferring to the Indiana School for the Deaf, where she graduated in 1999.
In 2009, Ms. Lyons Babineaux began her studies in Early Childhood Education while simultaneously pursuing a degree in pharmacology, which she continued until 2012. Currently, she is employed as an administrative assistant at the Indiana School for the Deaf (ISD). She has been employed with the school for over 16 years.
In the last 20 years, Ms. Lyons Babineaux has held leadership roles in various Deaf organizations in Indiana and Louisiana. These include the Fort Wayne Deaf Advocacy Coalition, the Northeast Indiana Deaf Awareness Council, the Northshore Louisiana Deaf Coalition, and the Indiana Chapter of Black Deaf Advocates. Currently, she serves as the National Black Deaf Advocates (NBDA) Regional Representative for the Midwestern Region.
A devoted family woman, Ms. Lyons Babineaux has been happily married for 24 years, has a teenage daughter, and a precious Havanese, Daisy. In her free time, she enjoys participating in bunco games, traveling, and socializing with friends.
